Dr. Loizos Koutsantonis is an AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) engineer whose work bridges academic research and applied engineering.

He holds a PhD in Computational Sciences from The Cyprus Institute (2019), where his doctoral research focused on novel tomographic image reconstruction methods for SPECT and PET medical imaging. He then joined the University of Luxembourg as a Postdoctoral Researcher in HPC, publishing work on deep learning for medical image reconstruction, Bayesian optimisation and distributed algorithms. He later served as Senior HPC/AI Engineer at LuxProvide, operator of Luxembourg’s MeluXina supercomputer. His expertise covers large language model fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic AI systems, distributed multi-GPU training and on-premise model deployment.

Since November 2026, he has been Director of the IT Applications Department at RTD Talos, where he works on AI-driven intelligent systems, optimisation algorithms and digital twins.
