EU-DRIVE
European Upskilling in Disaster Resilience and Innovation in Vocational Excellence
EU-DRIVE (European Upskilling in Disaster Resilience and Innovation in Vocational Excellence) brings together 20 partners from five Mediterranean countries (Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, and France) to address the urgent demand for vocational skills in Disaster Risk Management (DRM), civil protection, and climate resilience. The project unites VET providers, research centres, universities, and public policy actors to co-create innovative, inclusive, and labour market-relevant training solutions. At its core, EU-DRIVE will establish five Regional DRM Skills Hubs and a transnational Alliance to foster sustained cooperation between VET institutions, emergency services, local authorities, and civil society.
Leveraging the consortium’s strong territorial roots and thematic expertise in wildfires, floods, drought, and cross-hazard resilience, the project will design modular curricula, deliver simulation-based training, and implement work-based learning (WBL) in real operational settings. It will issue microcredentials, integrate cutting-edge technologies like VR and GIS, and engage stakeholders in policy roundtables and knowledge exchange. EU-DRIVE aims to enhance the skills pipeline into the DRM sector, especially in the public workforce, while supporting systemic innovation in VET. Ultimately, the project sets a scalable, sustainable model of vocational excellence in disaster resilience for Europe.
