"Determination of energy crops potential in Cyprus"

The project aims in the overall research for the potential of promotion and exploitation of energy crops in Cyprus for the production of bio-fuel. More specifically, in the framework of the project will be attempted the quantitative determination of the available irritable water and the available cultivable territory which can be used for growing Energy Crops. Through the use of advanced applications of Geographical Information Systems, and the exploitation of existing information about the ground, the hypsometrical data, the watery potential and the quality of territory, it is expected to be quantified but also to determine geographically the regions in Cyprus which under certain conditions could be used for the production of energy crops.
